The Club would like to announce the following Junior (U11 to U15) coach and team manager appointments for the 2008 season.

Note: Training and practices for U11, U13, U14 and U15 initiate week beginning 22 October 2007 (U12s initiate week beginning 5 November 2007). Please contact the following coaches directly to find out all information.

U11 A

Steve Calderone is a successful and experienced junior coach that has worked with Victorian State representative squads for both futsal and outdoor football in U'11s. Steve was formerly an FFV Academy coach for U'11 boys in 2005-2006, Victorian U'11 Team Futsal Coach for the 2004 National Championships, and coached the U'13 Bayside Girls Representative squad to the State Championships as title winners in 2005. At club level, Steve formerly coached our Monash U'10s to the Castlefield Shield title in 2004. Steve has an FFA Youth Coaching Licence.

U12 A

Coach : Matthew McNamara

Matthew McNamara was a former State League player that retired at a young age through injury. He has stayed involved in the game as a coach and has been working with advanced juniors for 3 years. Matt coached the U'15 Victorian State Country Squad at the 2007 National Championships, and has recently been coaching teams in the U'15 and U'16 Super League. Matt is about to complete the FFA Senior Coaching Licence and intends to study for the Asian Confederation C Licence at the end of 2008.

U13 Super League

Coaches Robert Anastasio and John Athanassiou will be joint coaches this season, bringing 14 years experience working with advanced junior players. Robert has been Assistant Coach with the club's current U15 Super League team for 5 years and has gained much experience in advanced technical and tactical youth coaching. In 2005, Robert was part of the Monash team that won the U12 International Youth Cup on the Gold Coast (see below). Robert has attained the FFA Youth Licence. He has also formerly coached Girls U14 A League. John is an former State League player and a former senior team coach. John has attained the FFA Youth Licence. John has been with the team for 5 years since they were initiated in the U8s age group. John has been coaching the team for 3 years and for the past three seasons the team has been undefeated. The team was runner up in the U10 Castlefield Shield (2005), champions of the U11 Kangaroos (2006), and last season finished runners up in the U12 A League.

U13 B League

Coach Steven Samelis is also a new member of the Monash coaching team. Steven has had a glowing reference for his work with the U12s at Waverley Wanderers last season were he attained a runner-up position. Steven is looking forward to coaching the squad for 2008 and will be completing his Junior and Youth FFA licences over the summer. The team was formerly champions of the U11 Joeys in 2006.

U13 Girls League

Coach Steve Andrejic is a former State League player and has 4 years experience working with advanced sub-junior and junior players. Steve has completed the FFA Junior Licence and will complete the FFA Youth Licence early in 2008. Steve is particularly experienced in coaching technical skills and game awreness practices suitable for young players, and has developed one of the most technically advanced U10 boys team in Victoria. Steve has taken on this assignment to enhance the skill and game awareness of the girls. The team has been together for 2 years and a few of the girls are currently playing futsal (indoor soccer) together over the summer period.

U14 Super League

Coach Manni Katakis joins the U14s after a successful year developing the Club's advanced U10 Kangaroos squad during 2006. The U10s played one year up and finished runners-up in their U11 Joeys Division. Manni has recently completed the new FFA Level C Licence which is the first level qualification for professional coaches. His background includes: former Football Federation Victoria Academy Coach for U14s (2005) and U11s (2006), and a former Victorian futsal youth representative team coach for national championships. Manni has also coached Super League and A league level squads with Ashburton, Bulleen and Stonnigton across the U14 to U16 age groups. The current Monash U14 team is the former winner of the U10 Castlefield Shield (2004) and has finished in fourth position in U11 Kangaroos (2005) and fourth again in U12A Division (2006) which provided qualification to the U13 Super League for 2007. The team toured South Australia in 2006 hosted by Adelaide City. Last season the team played amongst the most technical football in the U13 Super League and was unlucky to finish outsde the top 5 due to a sequence of injuries to key players across the second half of the season. Manni will be looking to build on the teams technical development and push for a top four position to qualify for the 2008 U14 NTC Cup.

U15 Super League

Coach Laurie Ferns is a former State League player with 9 years experience coaching elite junior players. Laurie has coached the team for the past 7 years and has on occassion worked for the Football Federation Victoria with Academy and State Representation projects. Laurie is also an elected member of the FFV Coaches Standing Committee (until 2009). Laurie has attained the new FFA Professional Level C Licence. The current team have previously won the U10 Castlefield Shield (2003), U11 Kangaroos (2004), U12A Division (2005), and for the past two seasons have finished runners up in the U13 Super League (2006) and U14 Super League (2007). The team was former champions of the U12 International Youth Cup on the Gold Coast (2005), and has previously played in tours at the Gold Coast (2004), South Australia (2006) and the Australian Capital Territory (2006). In the latter tour the squad trained at the Australian Institute of Sport and played the ACT Representative Squad. The team will tour the ACT again in December 2007. Laurie will be looking to maintain the team in the top 3 during 2008, but the first challenge will be to compete in the U15 Manchester United Premier League Cup during March 2008.
