Monash city FC Small sided games program for 5-12 year olds

(only 6,7,8 & 9 year olds are eligible to participate in 2009)

The FFA has recently announced a new national approach to junior player development called SSG (Small Sided Games).
Small-Sided Games (SSG) are modified forms of football designed to meet the needs of players aged 5 - 12. The philosophy of SSG focuses on enjoyment and skill development through freedom of expression and limited emphasis on coaching. The smaller sized fields with fewer numbers of players per team encourages more touches on the ball and opportunities for more goals to be scored.

More information on SSG can be found on the FFV's website via this link:SSG

Please take the time to read the information that is provided by the FFV. It will answer most of your questions and give you a better understanding of the reasons for changing to a Small Sided Game scenario for junior development.

information on How Monash city's SSG program will run

Monash City FC has put a lot of thought and planning in to it's SSG program and has come up with a program which we believe will give children the best possible introduction to football.
Monash city FC have engaged the services of 3 Coerver accredited and FFV licensed coaches to run our program. The program will include skills sessions on Wednesday nights from 5.15pm at Argyle reserve Oakleigh to teach the kids the basic fundamentals of football, then Saturday mornings we will be running the small sided games at Caloola reserve where the children will be encouraged to enjoy the games and try out some of the skills that they are taught by our professional coaches..

Gala Days provide a break from the intra club format and gives kids a chance to test their skills against players from other clubs. FFV will assist clubs with organizing Gala Days but Clubs are responsible for their delivery.
