Monash City FC is holding informal training sessions for interested players in joining our U16 Super League squad in 2009.

The club has appointed Mr Tony Merakis as Head Coach to put in place a youth development project. Tony has just completed his FFA Professional C Licence in Canberra at the Australian Institute of Sport. Tony spent much of his time in Canberra with Alistair Edwards of the FFA Youth Development to discuss the new national approach.

For the past two seasons Tony has been Head Coach for Knox City Reserves taking the team to the title and second place. Before that Tony coached U18s at Eastern Lions. Tony is concerned that young players enter reserves and lower league seniors too early before they are properly developed and they often go backwards. Apart from regular technical and skills coaching, emphasis will be on coaching through 'zones of play', movement on and off the ball, and using spaces more effectively.

Interested players should contact the club info@monashcityjuniorsoccerclub.com.au
