Team News
9th September Away Richmond
A great first half saw the boys passing and looking for each other with strong kicks and making some attacking moves the boys went into the half time break 1-0 down. The second half was back to the old way playing out of position chasing kicks playing from behind and this gave Richmond many chances and the final score 3-0 was yet another lost for a team that was chasing a top three place just 6 weeks ago
2nd September Home Riversdale Raiders
A very even first half like last week but as previous the boys went to sleep and got run over in the second half and allowed Riversdale to play their game and dominate
Final Score 1-5
26th August Home South Melbourne
A even first half saw South Melbourne go to the break 1-0 up with very little in the game between both teams. Second half started with no team taking the upper hand, but it wasn't long before South Melbourne due to Monash's lack of talk, chasing and desire to play positions and even wanting to win that gave South Melbourne a 4-0 win
Final Score 0-4
12th August Away Glen Waverley
A wet and cold Sunday greeted the boys at Glen Waverley, and it didn't take long for Monash to be on the back foot. It was an even first half but Waverley was able to get the first goal. The second half was the same, an even tussle but as in previous games the boys lost concentration allowing Waverley to score freely.
Final Score 3-0
5th August Home Stonnington City Very disappointing effort by the boys this morning with lapses of concentration allowed Stonnington to open the scoring with a quick goal inside 5 minute in the first half and again in the second half a very easy goal occurred. The boys did do a lot of attacking but couldn't put them away. From the side lines it just seemed that the boys just didn't want to chase or contest for the ball in the middle. There were some good signs with some position changes for this game Jack on the wing, Conor right forward and Jacob centre forward having a fare bit of the ball.
Full Time 2-0
29th July Away North Caufield
A very important game today faced the boys at Caulfield Park with top spot North Caulfield. From the beginning it looked and it was not going to be a good morning. The boys were out of sorts with bad judgement and disappointing passing and ball control. It didn't take long for Caulfield to score the first and it was the efforts of Peter in goals that stopped any more by putting his body on the line and at half time 1-0 with still plenty of time to get back in the game. It was Caulfield that again found a hole and popped in a second goal that sealed the game for them. Monash now have to regroup, focus and be positive for the next 5 weeks
22nd July Home Doncaster
A great opportunity for the boys to redeem themselves after the first encounter with Doncaster resulted in a 5-1 loss. It was only the post that stopped Monash from taking the lead in the first minutes and as previous games it was Doncaster that opened their account with a shot from nowhere beating Peter. Monash kept the pressure on for the rest of the half and it was 1-0 at half time with little in it. The second half there was no change both teams tried to make chances but no luck. With only minutes left it was the superb effort of Gabby that provided Monash a glimmer of chance to win this game with a quick turn and taking a shot and beating the keeper to his right. Time did run out and the final score 1-1 was a great effort for Monash.
15th July Away Mooroolbark
A cold morning greated the boys out in Mooroolbark as they prepared for a tough match. This was a vital game and it was spelt out to the team in their match warm up. The magic happened 5 minutes into the game a pre plan drill executed by Jacob taking a short corner to Conor thus catching the Mooroolbark defenders off guard and a cross in found the head of Daniel who in turn found the net. The game from then on continued with both teams mounting attacks but at half time 1-0 was the score. The second half was again a tough slog with both teams having chances but the final score was to stay 1-0
8th July Home Ringwood City
The Boys hosted Ringwood at home this week and from the kick off they showed that they came to play. Taking control and playing some brillant soccer it was good to see the Monash boys yet again score the first goal in the game. A great shot from Callum that cleared the keeper. It didnt take long for Ringwood to equalise and it came from a cracking shot where some slack defence allowed a free shot, but from then on Will, Louie and Charlie (good to see him back from that knee injury)tighten up and Ringwood were not to trouble the scorer for the rest of the game. The Monash boy were not going to settle for a draw and after the half time break 1-1 half time score Conor found the back of the net by taking on two defenders and chipping over the keeper a fantastic through ball from Braydon allowed Conor to get his second and with great support from each other the boys were still pushing for another goal when the final whistle sounded .
Final Score 3-1
I need to say the boys are growing with confidences and are show their skills in each game we view Keep up the good work thing will become so much easier as you continue playing football
1st July Home Richmond
Today the boys entertained Richmond at home to bring us to the half way mark of the season. Great start to the game saw the Monash boys pressure Richmond with many attack plays and opportunities to score but alas a goal could not come from it. It was great to see the boys keep the pressure on and the passing to team mates which has been consistent through the last 3 weeks. Half time came with the score at 0-0 An encouraging talk at half time saw the boys come out firing for a strong second half.
It didn't take long before Monash got their first on the board from a free kick that was crossed in and a shot by Daniel deflecting off a defender and within minutes Monash second occurred with help from a poor kick out by Richmond and Connor taking advantage from it and taking a shot that slipped through the keepers hands. Richmond weren't going to give up getting one back with a strong shot that beat Peter making the score 2-1.
Monash boys put the game beyond Richmond's grasp with a piece of brilliances from Michael with a free kick awarded outside the 18 yard box taking the shot and placing it in the top right corner of the goal. With only a couple of minutes left Daniel chimed in with his second from a cross in from Michael that Daniel just had to guide in towards the goals.
Final Score 4-1
A fantastic team effort from our tight defence not allowing Richmond many chances to the midfield that controlled the game and to the forwards that combined together to cause Richmond their worse lost to date.
24th June Away Riversdale Riaders
Almost at the half way point of the season and the boys ventured to Frog Hollow Reserve. The boys started strong yet again making all the plays and attacks but just found it hard going getting the ball in the net. The same old story played out again with minimal attacks Riversdale found the back of the net in which i must say a brillant piece of skill from the young riversdale player. The boys went in at half time 1-0 down but the spirit was not broken. The second half the boys attacked and attacked but it was not to be, that equaliser was not going to happen today.
Final Score 1-0
17th June Away South Melbourne
This would have to be the best game the boys played to date a great team effort, everyone fired up, chased and put pressure on south melbourne. Monash boys did all the attacking with our first goal being judged offside, but they kept the pressure on and with spirits high went to the break 0-0. With a positive pep talk by Coach Guus (Peter) the boys bought about the first goal minutes into the second half a back pass to Conor from Philip and a well place cross into the box and a brillant header from Harrison beating the keeper and found the back of the net. The boys kept playing as a team and controlled the game even when Charlie injured his knee and had to come off and coach Guus had to reshuffle the team. With only minutes left some how South Melbourne found a gap through the Monash defence and finished off with getting a equaliser to salvage a draw
Final Score 1-1
10th June Home Glen Waverley
The Boys started the game with determination and attacked from the start without success and it was Glen Waverley who got the first goal with a clumsy goal kick that went straight to a Glen Waverley player. The Boys rallied and got a goal back from a cross in by Louis and nicely finished off by Connor.
Half Time 1-1
Second half was even with the ball travelling to both ends of the ground and it was Glen Waverley that got the breakthrough with their second goal pass Peter with 3 Monash boys chasing. It took Monash minutes to equalise with the help of confusion the Glen Waverley boys stopped playing thinking the ball was out in the 6 yard box and Philip continued playing and popped it in to bring the score 2-2.
With the boys celebrating a great goal by Philip concentration lapsed and Glen Waverley took the ball from the kick off and got in the 18 yard box without being challenged where a penalty occurred. The penalty was taken Peter saved it but a infringement occurred while the kick was taken and the referee judged it a miss kick and Glen Waverley were required to shot again this time it went in. The Monash boys pushed and pushed but were unsuccessful it getting the third goal to equalise.
Final Score 2-3
3rd June Away Stonnington City
Bright sunny morning greated the boys today as they travelled to Kooyong for the clash with Stonnington. From the outset the boys attacked and controlled the game but found it hard going getting a goal. Many scrambles in the box put pressure on Stonnington but at half time 0-0
The second half was no different the boys attacked with some great play through the midfield and finally it did pay off with a shot by Daniel going pass the keeper and also pass the goal before Philip came in and slotted it in. With 5 minutes to go a chip into the box by Michael gave Philip his second with a deflection off a defender going pass the keeper.
By the cheers and Laughter from the supporters (the parents) it was good see the boys bring home a win.
Final Score 2-0
27th May Home North Caulfield
The boys are starting to make progress on the field with passes and looking for team mates. North Caulfield managed to score early on in the first have and just before half time got in a second goal.
Half Time 2-0
With the breeze favoring Monash in the second half the boys did most of the attacking but found it hard going getting the ball in the net. The boys did get a goal from a long ball from Peter (keeper) which found Jack deep in the attacking zone and which Jack helped on its way into the net.
Final Score 2-1
20th May Away Doncaster
The boys made their way to Doncaster this week for the game with a few boys missing through Illness. The game started with the boys holding possession and making a couple attacking moves, but with 10 minutes into the game Doncaster scored their first with Monash boys getting caught out of position. It wasn't long before another two goal went past Peter one a penalty and the other again a error in defence. Half Time 3-0 Doncaster's way.
The second half was no different 5 minutes in and yet another goal 4-0. The boys did get some passes together and with a cross from Jack, Louis put one in for Monash. With minutes to go another penalty Doncaster's way no one seemed to know why even the Doncaster's bench had no idea what it was for.
Final Score 5-1
The boys seemed out of sorts today not hungry to get the ball and it showed how vital it is to play positions
They lacked control in the mid field and this then put pressure on the defence.
Thank You goes out to Callum Tate from the under 11's that stepped and filled in for the team .
13th May Mooroolbark Home
First home game of the season saw the boys hosting Mooroolbark in an entertaining match. It took Mooroolbark only 7 minutes to get their goal which came about by slow reactions by the defence. As last week the boys now had to show some toughness to come back against a well balance Mooroolbark team and it didn't take long for Daniel to equalise with a powerful shot.
Half Time 1-1
Second half started with a brilliant save by Peter tapping the ball over the bar which again the boys began slowly and giving Mooroolbark the chance to score 15 seconds into play. The Second half saw some great skills by the boys Simon again played well on the left side Jack again put in a great game, Will and Charlie controlled the defence. Monash did take the lead by a scramble in the box Daniel out to Jacob and again a powerful shot giving Monash a 2-1 lead and that is how it finished.
Full Time 2-1
Yet again the boys showed that they have the skills and the maturity to fight on after giving the opposition first goal. Great effort boys keep working on the skills and encourage each other. 13th
6th May Away Ringwood
Finally the season has arrived and the boys travelled to sunny Ringwood for their first game. After a quick presentation to the captain for 2007 freddie the boys got out on the field to warm up. The game started at an easy pace both teams had chances and it wasnt until 5 minutes before half time that Ringwood got a couple of loose players and got a shot in and scored. Half time talk by coach Peter "Guus" was all positive the boys needed to focus and keep the pressure on this was going to be a test on the boys to see if they could come back from 1-0 down. Credit to the boys it paid off they focused and winning a corner Jack crossed it in and Harrison was there to complete the play. Once the boys equalised the intensity of the game changed and the last 8 minutes the boys passing was sharper the game got faster and the through balls started and we were unlucky not to get 2 more goals but offside rule stopped Monash. Final Score 1-1
Great effort by the boys to focus and keep the pressure on
29th April Home Clayton
Last game the boys have before the season start and it was great to see the one two touches coming into play Coach Peter was please to see the boys play a tight game and holding their postions. Great effort by Charlie playing a superb game in defence and being the one who set up the first goal with nice vision to see Michael in midfield who then in turn found Jack on the wing to cross in and Harrison completing the team effort with a Goal. The second half saw more of the same from Monash with great team work and again a goal from a great pass from Simon on the left wing out to Jack who them made a run pass a defender and then slotting it pass the goalie on the left side.
Final Score 2-0
22 April Home Noble Park
With only one more practice match to go coach Peter is seeing some great signs in the team but also some areas he needs to work on.
todays game the boys looked sluggish in their approach we matched it up with noble park trading attacking moves but our drive when we had the ball was not there. At half time it was 0-0 highlight for the first half was Michael's shot on goal. Second half didnt see much change in the pace of the game Monash started to play out of position allowing Noble Park to make a couple of break throughs and giving them opportunity to score and they did. Two goal again in short time one of those goals resulting from a penalty.
15th April Home East Bentleigh
A slow start to the game saw the boys do most of the attacking. Peter did pull off a great save when East Bentleigh did push forward. Great work by Will defending to stop many attacking build ups by East Bentleigh. Monash got the first goal 12min in to game by some nice first touch passes and Lewis finished off.
Half Time 1-0
Second half saw the same again attack after attack but just not able to finish off. A 7 minute lapse of concentration saw two goals kicked by East Bentleigh and as time ran out Monash was still pushing to try to equalise. Good effort by the boys, the game showed the value of concentration and playing postion something Peter (Guus) the coach can work on with the boys.
Full Time 1-2
1st April Home Oakleigh Canons
The Boys first hit out as a team was quite entertaining the boys took control early and were never threatened. 3-0 at half time with goals to Daniel, Jacob and Harrison. Michael went in goals second half giving Peter a run on the feild. Full time score 6-0 with goals to Peter and two to Jack.
5th April Away Oakleigh Canons
With some absent players for this evenings game two boys from the A squad filled in and as the previous game monash did all the attacking but just couldnt get the result needed. Playing a 3 man defence line and controlling the middle the boys did walk away with a 4-0 win Goals to Irabaan, Jonathan, Philip and a own goal.
